With this recent sunshine and heat, it feels like summer is finally here. Summer is one of my favourite times of year (the other favourite is Christmas!) and it’s partly because of all of the events and festivities around town. My poor husband … I think he must spend a good chunk of time every morning accepting the iPhone calendar invites I send him, with all of the fun events that I want to check out as a family. But we love our weekend explorations!
Here are some of the festivals and events I’m hoping to check out with my family this summer. Hopefully you might enjoy some of them too! If I’ve missed a fun family-friendly event please let me know, and I’ll create a calendar invite for my husband ASAP! :)
At the end of March, I wrote a post called Spring Things to do with Toddlers: Festivals & Events in Victoria. I talked about how our little family loves our weekend adventures. My iPhone calendar is full of all of the festivals and events that I have been able to find, and each weekend we take a look at what’s going on, and what we want to explore. As the month of June continues to fly by, summer is just around the corner! So here is my list of Summer 2016 (July/August) family friendly festivals and events in Victoria and the peninsula. I haven’t attended all of these events before, so can’t guarantee your enjoyment … but many of them are events we have loved in the past!
*Update: new events added July 2nd, 2016 (marked with an asterisk)
The air is starting to feel cool, and I can see the rain clouds hovering today. As Fall approaches, I’m thinking back to our incredible summer filled with boating, swimming, and exploring. This summer, our family of three took a vacation to Parksville/Qualicum for 5 nights. Parksville is one of our favorite summer destinations. For a family of water babies, it’s the perfect get-away!
My husband and I had enjoyed a few summer vacations up island before Baby E was born. But this was our first time with Baby E! We stayed at the Sunrise Ridge Resort, which we really enjoyed. We had a nice 1-bedroom place with a pull-out couch, kitchen island, stove/dishwasher/microwave, patio, and BBQ! The resort has a pool, and a path down to the beach. It was a great home base for all of our adventures!
